HTML Basic

HTML, is a language used to lay the foundations of your web pages.

  • HTML is an abbreviation for Hyper Text Markup Language
  • HTML is a markup language
  • HTML uses the tag element to describe web pages

HTML Tags

HTML markup tags are usually called HTML tags

  • HTML tags are always surrounded by angle brackets like <html>
  • HTML tags come with an opening and closing tag like <p> your paragraph</p>
  • The first tag in a pair is the opening tag, the second tag is the closing tag

  • The text between <html> and </html> describes the web page
  • The text between <body> and </body> page content displayed
  • The text between <h1> and </h1> is displayed as a heading
  • The text between <p> and </p> is displayed as a paragraph
  • The text between <i> and </i> is displayed as Italics
