What make and model of Computer do you have?
My desktop computer is a hybrid of alien ware and voodoo components, the laptop I have is an HP Compaq Presario.
Do you take tutorial requests?
Sure! If I haven’t already done one on the topic, send me a request.
Do you design Web sites on request?
Yes, some people do not have the patience or in some cases they just don’t have the time to follow along with the tutorials. I have designed over a dozen web sites for people and continue in some cases to provide support for them. You can find out more about costs and stuff by contacting me via the contact link, remembering to enter something relevant in the subject field.
What’s the best size for my web site?
Some people are still running old monitors so to reach everyone you need to make you web site fit on everyone’s screen. A CSS liquid layout is a good idea; this adjusts to the users screen. If you are not familiar with CSS a good base size to start with is 800 pixels in width; not specifying a height is a good idea then your site will expand to accommodate the content you place within the pages.
What College did you go to?
I never actually attended college in the normal way, I was working a full time job and my local college never had the courses I was interested in on their prospectus. So all the courses I completed were done from home while using the recourses of my local college. The courses were provided by colleges from both Aberdeen and Edinburgh in Scotland.
What is the biggest donation you ever received?
I once received a donation of £100, although that was a one off and I must say I appreciate every donation no matter the amount.
When I import my Photoshop layout into Dreamweaver it blows it apart?
Yes many people have reported this problem, when importing a sliced layout from Photoshop to Dreamweaver there is a lot of complex coding that creates an entire mess unless you really know what you’re doing. My best advice is to create the header graphic and possibly the footer in Photoshop and do the rest in Dreamweaver; this will give you more control over your site. And a little knowledge in design goes a long way.
How can I get rid of that annoying blue border around my linked images?
You need to set the border of your image to zero. Select the image then in the bottom of your screen you should see the properties panel in the border option enter zero.
Are you a full time designer?
Well I spend enough time in front of my computer to qualify as just that. I used to work for a design and development company, where I was committing way too much of my life making a bunch of directors rich. So I decided to go it alone and I’ve never been happier, even have time to do things of interest to me like running alongside other hobbies.
Why didn't’t you answer my email?
I promise I read every Email I receive. However due to the high volume of Emails I receive (on a daily basis) it’s Impossible for me to reply to them all. The tactic I use is to reply to those I best understand or best explained. Generally if you keep the question and email short and to the point I will get back to you pretty much as soon as I can.
How do I define a local root/site folder?
There is a tutorial on this subject, you can view this at the following link Define a Local root folder
Can I follow along with Tutorials using CS3?
Yes Sure! Dreamweaver add new features to newer versions of the application but the changes are subtle, they do a very good job keeping everything displayed pretty much the same. I am confident you can follow along just fine.
How do I change the behaviors of my Links?
There is actually several ways to do this. The easiest is to open your page properties and in the left column under category select Links (CSS). In here you can change the color of your link when visited and upon rollover ex.
